Save the date- It’s the Garforth Academy annual whole school career event on Thursday 2nd May.
Future’s day is all about giving students an opportunity to explore options for life after Garforth Academy.
Our guests include a fantastic array of education, training and apprenticeship providers (including colleges and universities), and employers representing a range of sectors.
All students (Y7, 8, 9, 10, 10, 12, and 13) will attend the fair throughout the day in their year groups.
In assemblies after easter students will be informed of the event, and how to make the most of it (in context to their year group). Preparation time will also be given during form time leading up to the event.
In addition to accessing the careers fair Years 9, 10 and 12 will have talks from our fantastic guests:
Y9 will have an introduction to Post 16 options, and hear from The Heart of Yorkshire Education Group (Further Education, technical and apprenticeship provider), and Garforth Academy Sixth Form’s very own Mr Newstead.
Y10 will have an introduction to Post 16 options, and hear from representatives from York College, The Heart of Yorkshire Education Group and Garforth Sixth Form’s Mr Newstead. Current Y12 students will also give their tips for deciding what to do after Y11.
Y12 will hear from guest speakers (university and apprenticeship provider representatives) discussing post 18 options, including some advice from Garforth Academy Alumni. Topics include ‘Is University right for me?’, and Personal Statements (for university and apprenticeship applications).
Parents are welcome to visit the fair and speak with our guests between 15.00 – 16.00, students are welcome to revisit with you at this time.
It would be great to see as many parents/carers visiting the fair as possible!
