Careers Quality Award

We are thrilled to have achieved the national Quality in Careers Standard. At Garforth Academy we recognise the important role school plays in helping students develop their knowledge, skills and experience so they can go out into the world and achieve personal success. This award demonstrates our commitment to our young learners, ensuring our students are receiving advice, practical support and experience so they are prepared for the next stage of their education, employment, self-employment or training.

In addition to achieving the award, following the Quality in Careers Standard assessment Garforth Academy received the bellow complimentary feedback on our Careers Programme:

“The assessor, Mark Gray was most impressed with your school and said to me in his final report that Garforth Academy have an impressive portfolio of evidence to support its submission for the Quality in Careers Standard, and this evidence was substantiated in the second assessment across the range of staff involved, and by students. A consistent theme was evident of CEIAG being embedded as a key principle within the school, and of this being seen across a range of activities and practice. There is also a strong and stable team supporting the programme. Of particular note was the school’s commitment to impartiality and students’ entitlement to know of an understand the range of Post 16 options available to them beyond the school’s own 6th Form provision. There are also examples of innovative practice around involving parents and carers in the delivery of the programme itself, the use of the Unifrog package to enable students to develop, record and track their learning, and a significant programme of world of work and F.E. activities. There are also some excellent, discreet programmes offered and taken up by students, such as NextGen and the Diana Award. Some of these elements have been justifiably graded as “outstanding” in the portfolio”.
