Year 10 Football Victory

12th December 2016

The Year 10 footballers progressed to the last 32 schools in England with a 3-1 win at Healing School, Grimsby.

Garforth started the game positively and had numerous opportunities to take the lead but found Healing’s goalkeeper in fantastic form. However, if you keep banging on the door it will eventually open and Kasim M took full advantage of a loose ball at the right hand side of the area and smashed it into the roof of the net.

Into the second half and with the wind in their favour Healing began to press and create chances without really threatening Connor F in goal. The back four for Garforth, led by man of the match Dylan C, remained solid and that gave Garforth the opportunity to counter-attack. Lewis B picked the ball up just outside the area and curled the ball just inside the far post before Brayden E-J hit a sweet half volley into the bottom corner. Garforth also had numerous one on one’s to take the game completely out of sight but the Healing keeper was in inspirational form.

Healing did get a goal back with 5 minutes to play but Garforth maintained their discipline and returned back across the M62 with a deserved victory.

Well done all !
