Outstanding Post 16 Results

17th August 2018

Garforth Academy, a member of the Delta Academies Trust, have achieved another outstanding set of Key Stage 5 results this year which build on the record set of results for the Academy last year. Our A Level Value Added score of 0.21 is again likely to be validated as the highest the Academy has ever achieved. This puts us in the top 10% of all Key Stage 5 providers nationally.

All students did incredibly well and were delighted with their results which they had worked so hard to achieve.  Whilst it is difficult to distinguish who stands out amongst such a terrific set of results, of particular note are the following students;

Kimberly H achieved three A*s in Chemistry, Biology and Extended Project Qualification as well as an A grade in Maths.  Kimberley will be going to the University of York to study Biology.

Katie W achieved two A*s in Sociology and Extended Project Qualification as well as two A grades in Religious Studies and Psychology. Katie will go on to study Criminology and Sociology at the University of Hull.

Cara N will be studying Dance having achieved an A* in Biology and A grades in Maths and History.

Ben H achieved two A*s in Maths and Physics, an A in Further Maths and a B in History and will study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Leeds.

Matthew F achieved an A* in Maths and two A grades in Chemistry and Physics as well as an A in A/S Level Further Maths. Matthew will study Chemical Engineering at the University of Sheffield.

Lydia K has decided to take a gap year and then take up her place at University of Nottingham to study Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience having achieved an A* in Psychology and A grades in English Literature and Biology.

Holly W managed to achieve three A grades in Psychology, Maths and Art & Design and will go to the University of Nottingham to study Architecture.

Olivia C chose to follow a BTEC study route reflecting the practical nature of her Childcare and Health & Social Care courses. She managed to achieve two Distinction * grades and a Distinction and is going to study Primary Education at Leeds Trinity University.

Whilst many of our students will go off to university to study next year around half of them will go to apprenticeships and we again have many stories of students being successful in their results and in securing fantastic apprenticeship opportunities. These include Anna B who will begin a Level 4 Apprenticeship in Project Management with the Civil Service having achieve AAB. Cara B achieving AAC and accepting a Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship in Business Marketing at Heat Trace (Engineering heating firm). Finally, Harry K gained CCD and has accepted a Level 3 IT Support Apprenticeship at Masternaught.

We are absolutely delighted for all our students and wish them all the very best of luck as they move onto University, employment or whatever other destinations they choose to follow!
