GCSE Success 24 August 2017

23rd August 2017

Garforth Academy, a member of the Delta Academies Trust, have achieved an outstanding set of Key Stage 4 results.  These improvements were reflected across all subject areas but particularly pleasing were the huge gains made in Maths, English and Science.  This is a great achievement for our students and reflects the hard work of students, staff and of course the support of parents.

Although it is difficult to distinguish one particular student amongst such a terrific set of results, of particular note are the following students:

  • Matilda Leonard achieved 7A*s, scoring a 9 in both English Literature and Maths.
  • Megan Heaven scored an incredible 9 in English Language, 8 in English Literature and 8 in Maths.
  • Phoebe Banks achieved 5A*s.  This is a remarkable achievement as Phoebe sat five of her exams whilst training and competing as an international diver.  As well as her exam success, Phoebe and her partner won Gold in Kiev and are the Synchronised Diving World Champions.

Once again, a fantastic outcome for our students and we wish them all the best as they move into the world of work or continue their education.

Andy Woodhouse, Principal of the Academy, is delighted that the hard work of students, the dedication of staff and the unrelenting support of parents is reflected in the results that the students have achieved today.  Well done!

Paul Tarn, Chief Executive Officer of Delta Academies Trust, said “following the fantastic A level results last week, we are delighted that our students have been equally successful in their GCSE and key stage 4 examinations.

We wish all students well in their next steps in education, training or employment, and look forward to hearing about their future achievements”.
