GCSE Exam Results 2018

23rd August 2018

The staff and students of Garforth Academy, a member of the Delta Academies Trust, are again celebrating an outstanding set of Key Stage 4 results today!

All of our students achieved individual success and we are delighted with the results they have gained, having worked so hard for them. It was wonderful to see so many happy, excited students, staff and parents as they celebrated on Thursday morning having collected their results. Although extremely pleasing improvements were made in many subject areas, in particular massive increases were made in Maths and English, with English more than doubling their grade 7 and above and adding 20% to students achieving grade 5 and above.

There are so many well-deserved success stories; but of particular note are:

  • Molly achieved 7 grade 9s,  including 9s in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography, as well an A* in ICT.  Molly is staying at Garforth to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths in the Sixth Form.
  • Mariella achieved 7 grade 9s.  These included 9s in English Language, English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography.  Mariella is also continuing her education at Garforth Academy Sixth Form, studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths.
  • Amy achieved 5 grade 9s, 3 grade 8s, an A* in Sociology and an A in Media Studies.  She is studying A-levels at Garforth Academy Sixth Form in Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Media Studies.
  • Charlotte and Keia also gained fantastic results across their subjects and achieved the highest overall progress scores in the Academy.  Charlotte is continuing into the Sixth Form at Garforth to study Criminology, Law and Psychology, whilst Keia is progressing into Further Education to study A-levels.

We are delighted with our students’ achievements and continue to be very proud of them. Their success is a reflection of their hard work and commitment, the dedication of staff and the continued support of parents.

We wish all of our students the very best of luck in their next steps in education, training or employment and look forward to hearing about their future achievements and successes.
