This This course is designed to provide a good understanding of the roles, responsibilities and practical skills of a beauty therapist.
How is the course organised
The course is a 1 year programme delivered over 12 hours per week (usually 2 days).The programme will be delivered by theory sessions, practical workshops and commercial based salons. Independent study is an essential part and requirement of the course. With this programme you will learn the following aspects of Beauty Therapy:
Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
Promote additional services or products to clients
Develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
Provide facial skin care treatment
Enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes
Carry out waxing services
Provide manicure services
Provide pedicure services
Fulfil salon reception duties
Provide make-up services
A tutorial programme is mandatory and supports the student throughout their studies with guidance and individual learning plans put into action.
Methods of Assessment
The programme is based on continual assessment and you will be assessed through observation of practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work and written questions. A portfolio will be produced throughout your course of evidence towards your competency.
On successful completion of this course you can enter employment as an apprentice beauty therapist or progression onto a specialised Level 3 Beauty Therapy pre- employment course which could lead into fashion, television or cruise ship work.
