Modern Foreign Languages

On Thursday 22nd February a small group of talented linguists from Years 9, 10 and 11 had the privilege of being taught some Mandarin from  two teachers from the Confucius Institute at Leeds University.

Within one hour all students were able to count up to 100 and have a short conversation in Mandarin.
The teachers were amazed at how much progress the students made and commented that they were the brightest group of beginners they had ever taught!
At the end of the session they were all answering maths questions ... in Mandarin! Wow!  They impressed everyone!

Well done to all involved and a big thank you for giving up your time after school.
